Top Ten Tuesday: Ten YA Books I Meant To Read In 2017 But Didn’t Get To

Hosted by The Broke and the Bookish

While I had lots of reading time in 2017, there were still far too many books I would have liked to  read but never actually got around to checking out. I honestly don’t know much about any of them beyond what their blurbs tell me other than the one about Wonder Woman, but all of the other blurbs sure were attention-grabbing. Click on the links below to read them for yourself.

One of my goals for 2018 is to finally start checking titles off of this list. If you’ve already read any of them, I’d love to hear what you thought about them!

1. Our Own Private Universe by Robin Talley.

2. Eliza and her Monsters by Francesca Zappia.

3. Flame in the Mist by Renee Ahdieh.

4. Wonder Woman: Warbringer by Leigh Bardugo.

5. A List of Cages by Robin Roe.

6. Dreamfall by Amy Plum.

7. Ramona Blue by Julie Murphy.

8. Release by Patrick Ness.

9. Rebel Seoul by Axie Oh.

10. Want by Cindy Pon.

What did you run out of time to read in 2017? Whatever it was, I hope you’ll be able to read it in 2018!

Comments

  1. Wonder Woman was so good, I loved the characters and the emphasis on female friendship. I need to read Release; I wanted to pick it up when it first came out, but then I forgot about it.

  2. I feel like I only read a handful of all the books I had hoped to get to this past year. I just can’t read as many as I want–we all have that dilemma, don’t we? I have only read Wonder Woman: Warbringer from your list, and enjoyed it. I hope you get to read all of these this year and enjoy each and everyone!

  3. I have Release on my tablet right now. I didn’t like The List of Cages, but a lot of other people did. It is hard to read all the books on my list when others come along to crowd them out.

    • Yeah, I know the feeling. Thanks for the heads up about The List of Cages. It’s always interesting to me how much people’s opinions can vary about a book. I enjoy the process of discovering a story for myself after I’ve read a few opinions about it.

I hope Release is a good read for you.

  4. I just got a copy of Wonder Woman: Warbringer in December. It looks great! Thanks for stopping by my Top Ten Tuesday 🙂

  5. Jade @ BookMuffin says:

I really want to read A List of Cages and Eliza and Her Monsters!

  6. Eliza and her Monsters is one I definitely want to read! And Want looks good as well, I love the idea of the futuristic setting. Amy Plum is another author I’d like t try.

  7. I’d forgotten about Release, and I wanted to read it so much! I should do a list of books like that. I’ve still not read Book of Dust – I wanted to read it on day one, but gave priority to books I’d taken for review. I must give a weekend to BoD.

  8. I can’t wait to read Eliza and Her Monsters. I’m hopefully reading it soon.

    • Good for you! I’m on my library’s waiting list for it, but there still are so many people ahead of me in line.

  9. Eliza and her monsters has such a pretty cover! I wish I could read and enjoy every book!

  10. I liked Flame in the Mist! Really looking forward to the sequel of that one.
Liked Wonder Woman: Warbriner as well but didn’t love it as I thought I would. Hope you enjoy it though!

    • Thank you for your thoughts on those books. That’s always a nice thing to have before you read something. I had no idea that Flame in the Mist has a sequel, either.

  11. Wonder Woman: Warbringer was on my list this week too!

  12. I still haven’t read Release yet, either. 🙈

  13. I hope to read Flame of the Mist. I read Wrath and the Dawn and enjoyed it. I hope you finally get to read the books on this list. 🙂

  14. Great list! I’m hoping to get to Eliza and her Monsters, Wonder Woman, Ramona Blue and Rebel Seoul as well. I did already read and loved Want and Flame in the Mist, so hope you will too!

  15. Lot of great books in this list and many of them on my TBR too! But the one I’m most excited to read is Wonder Woman.

  16. Nice list of books!! I hope you read them all in 2018!!

Thanks for stopping by and leaving me a comment! Happy reading!!

  17. I want to read A List of Cages and Wonder Woman too! good luck!

  18. Great list! Wonder Woman: Warbringer sounds so good! I’m hoping to read it this year, too.

  19. This is a great list – I also haven’t read any of them, something about the best laid plans, etc.
Hope you manage to read these this year.
    Happy reading.

  20. WARBRINGER was really good, albeit I expected it to be even better haha. It was a solid 4-star-read, don’t get me wrong, but I thought it’d blow my mind. Anyhow, the female friendship was awesome and the characters really well-crafted. A LIST OF CAGES is a book I read at the very beginning of last year, and have been screaming about it ever since. It’s so darn good! You won’t regret reading it.

Hope you’ll get around to read all these books! 🙂

  21. I read A List of Cages and thought it was an incredibly well written book with a powerful message. I hope you get to read it soon.

  22. Flame in the mist was a good read for me I hope you enjoy it when you get to it. I’m also about halfway through Wonder Woman and enjoying it too!

    • I’m really glad to hear that. Thank you for letting me know what you thought of Wonder Woman and Flame in the Mist.

  23. I’m not familiar with any of these but I did take a look at some on Goodreads – quite a list. Hope you get to them all soon!

  24. I’ve never fiction set in future Seoul before. Cool!

    • Neither have I. It’s such a neat idea that I have to see what it’s like. I hope you like it if you read it.

  25. I definitely need to add Flame In The Mist to my TBR

  26. Loved Eliza and Ramona. I hope you get to read them! A List of Cages made my TTT too. I am really determined to read that one. That’s going to happen.

  27. I need to read Ramona Blue and Want as well. I actually just won a copy of the latter, so hopefully I can get to that soon. Best of luck picking up all these books this year!

  28. This is a great list! I just added Want and Rebel Seoul to my TBR. I wish you the best of luck in checking these books off this year!

  29. Great list! Wonder Woman: Warbringer is on my TBR. I really need to read it!

  30. Want was excellent, especially on audio. 🙂

  31. I really want to read Wonder Woman: Warbringer too. It sounds really good.
    Happy reading 🙂

  32. Rebel Seoul is on my long wishlist. I’ve just not been hearing much about it lately which I think is a shame.

  33. Some great books on your list. Eliza and her monsters is one I want to read as well. Thanks for stopping by my blog.
