Ziger The Tiger is back! This is the third story in the series of animal stories for kids and is all about eating fast food in the jungle. Kids will find out what kind of food Ziger is eating and why his Mum recommends a healthier option. Ziger is convinced but has to hide a terrible secret from his Mum before the happy ending. A great way for kids to relate to problems of eating fast food, how it can affect their views on their body image, and their health. The story has a few surprises, not least the intervention of Sniper Viper who is the snake behind JungleLeaks!

Some foods are much better for you than others are. It’s time to learn why that is so!

The pictures that were included between chapters were great. They tied into the storyline beautifully, and they were also a lot of fun to look at because the author had chosen so many different types of pictures to illustrate Ziger’s adventures. Some of them were about what what happening to the characters right then while others were messages to the audience. It was interesting to have that kind of variety.

I didn’t like all of the teasing that was going on in the plot. Ziger had a few different experiences with other animals in the jungle who didn’t want to spend time with him because he was overweight and out of shape. Some of the things his friends said to him were really unkind, and I didn’t think they should have been included in a story about eating less junk food.

My favourite part of this book were the healthy eating tips that Ziger’s mom shared with him once he decided to make some changes in his life. The tips were simple, easy to remember, and full of good advice. I also appreciated the fact that she was so positive and encouraging with her son. It isn’t always easy to make these kinds of changes in your life, so it was nice to see the main character get so much support from his family.

Ziger The Tiger Is Getting Fat should be read by any family who is interested in making healthier choices.
